Amateur Scotish Championship

Sunday 29th of September saw the first Amateur Scottish Championship and we couldn’t miss that! First of all, the list of fighters keen to compete out of our gym was quite big however as we got closer to the date there were more pull outs so from 15 fighters at the start we finished with only 4 fighting. However all of them made us very proud . At 66kg Adam Kocubowski won a silver medal. Adam dominantly won his medal only to lose in the final by just an inch. At 77kg Maciek Tokarz had two great fights with two wins giving Maciek the gold medal. It’s worth mentioning that Maciek used his clinch game in a very clever way – knees, elbows and sweeps were worked very well for him. Next up was Mariusz Grzegorczyk at 96kg . At this weight Mariusz had only one fight which he won by KO in the second round to come home with another gold medal for Hanuman Thai Boxing! Lastly was Rachel Barton at 60 kg. Rachel unfortunately lost in the qualifiers. It simply wasn’t her day as Rachel was struggling with health issues for the last few days before the fight which could be seen when she was in the ring. A massive well done to everybody and we hope events like these will happen more often. A great way for novice fighters to get experience actually fighting full Mauy Thai rules.
